Skills Profile Tool

The purpose of the skills profile tool is to help managers and employees to recognise specific skills that the employee needs to develop.

The profiling tool is in two parts, the first is the skills profile analysis which is designed to highlight the employee skills that need improving, the second is an action plan which records the arrangements that are made to improve the employees level of skill ownership.

Both parts are available to download as PDF format documents, or working templates in Excel format, along with some example profiles to understand what a completed profile will look like - access these documents here

Analysis Key:

A - Classification of job capability

Level 3 Means this capability is of key importance and the job cannot be performed satisfactorily unless the job holder is fully conversant with it
Level 2 Means this capability is a routine component of the job which should be accomplished in a timely manner
Level 1 Means this capability is not of key importance to the job but some advantage may be seen if the job holder has a reasonable level of competency

B - Classification of job holder ability level

Level 3 Job holder can adequately cope with this capability criteria
Level 2 Job holder has an existing but limited level of ability
Level 1 Job holder has minimal ability within this criteria

C - Classification of development action required

NONE No action required.
EXP Further experience required
TRG Further training required
